Radial Fans
Decades of development work and experience gained from
millions of units produced in series make PAPST AC fans
products that are constantly being copied. With its
multitude of patented innovations PAPST today is still
setting increasingly new standards. Where the functional
reliability of high-tech appliances demands efficient
cooling, the very latest AC fan series heads the priority
list as far as quality and reliability are concerned.

Users of PAPST fans can choose from the widest range
of DC fans. PAPST offers a comprehensive range from
25 mm edge length to a diameter of 172 mm. Every single
type of fan can be integrated in the individual device
concept. The highly economical, brushless motor technology
of these fans offers a unique variety of intelligent
innovations - advantages of the DC fan that can be realized
today at prices that were unthinkable just a few years
ago.

With
regard to the air flow direction, a compact fan operates
like an axial fan. They are equipped either with an
integrated AC motor with capacitor, a shaded-pole motor
or with a brushless DC motor. The structurally extremely
stable all-metal design consists of an aluminium die-cast
housing and single blades, which are welded on to the
rotor of the external rotor motor. The complete rotor
impeller is dynamically balanced in two planes. Some
versions are available with the impeller of high quality
plastic to UL flame class 94 V-0. See the following
data sheet.

Technical
Features: Maximum power consumption of forward curved
centrifugal fans is reached at free blowing. As the
back pressure increases, the power consumption decreases.
The integrated external rotor motor is mounted in the
air stream for optimal cooling. All motors have a special
torque vs. speed characteristic and are speed controllable.
Scroll
Housing: Forward curved centrifugal fans with scroll
housing are available in three different versions: a)
aluminium die-cast alloy, with the two housing parts
being screwed together b) Case and side parts consist
of galvanised sheet steel and are joined together by
shorts and tabs c) heat-resistent plastic
Scroll
dimension / Scroll Housing Forward curved centrifugal
fans require scrolls as guide. The scroll leads the
air stream from the impeller to the pressure stud. The
dimensions of the centrifugal blowers can been taken
from the corresponding datasheet.
Single
Inlet Centrifugal Blowers are available in either single
or 3 phase. Impeller diameters range from 76mm to 250mm.

The
integrated external rotor motor is mounted by means
of a bracket on one side of the scroll housing. An external
rotor motor with standing shaft (EW) can be used for
size 133 and bigger. The motor is mounted on both sides
of the scroll by means of anti-vibration mounted brackets.
These fans have extremely low vibration values.
Double
Inlet Centrifugal Blowers are available in impeller
sizes 97mm to 250mm. Voltage of 230v Single phase and
400v Three Phase are available.

The
main feature of backward curved centrifugal impellers
are the extremely long, backward curved blades, when
looking at the direction of rotation. These impellers
are less sensitive to dirt and dust. Furthermore, they
offer very good hydraulic efficiency. Their primary
advantage is in sucking operation. A scroll housing
is often not required. Depending on the application,
it might be sufficient to mount the centrifugal fan
in a rectangular or round scroll to convert part of
the dynamic pressure. The dimensions and performance
of these impellers are particularly suitable for use
in range hoods, computers and computer peripherals,
duct fans, roof ventilators, etc. In range hoods, for
example, the rectangular over-pressure area makes it
possible for the user to select the outlet direction,
either "exhaust air" or "recirculated air".

Hot
air blowers move hot air in cookers, convection ovens,
climate chambers, etc. The hot air blower and its motor
are designed in such a way that the high ambient temperatures
do not affect its operation and long mechanical life
is assured.

The
main features of external rotor motors as drive motors
are constant speed, very low noise levels and compact
construction. The relatively high inertial mass of the
external rotor motor guarantees constant speeds at different
loads. The motors listed in this catalogue only give
an overview of our complete motor range. If required,
the motor design can be made to customer specifications.
Motors for thermostats and beverage coolers, usually
closed, are equipped with a stainless steel shaft. All
rotors are varnished black. On request external rotor
motors are available as brushless DC motors. These motors
have a high efficiency and are offered in different
electronic options. We also offer external rotor motors
as brushless EC motors. These motors have a high efficiency
and with the electronics used they can be offered in
different versions. Even connection to a 230 VAC power
supply is available. See also ebm EC standard.

gas fans are ideal if hot gas needs to be moved. Using
the same principle of a centrifugal blower, gas is drawn
in from the side and pushed out. This unit is ideal

The
name "JB Motor" comes from the German word "jochbewickelt"
and means that the coils of the stator winding are wound
in radial direction over the stator stack. This special
winding is similar to the winding of a toroidal core
transformer or a variable resistor. The stator is completely
moulded with Duroplast. At the same time the Duroplast
moulding serves as the housing of the motor. The motor
is an asynchronous short-circuit rotor motor designed
as single-phase AC motor with operating capacitor. Three-phase
motors are available on request. A particular advantage
of the JB motor is the small coil form resulting in
shorter motor stacks and more compact motor design.
The moulding of the stator guarantees smooth running,
free from solid-borne noise and vibration, and higher
life expectancy of the stator winding as dust and other
damaging particles, humidity in particular, cannot penetrate.
The construction of the JB motor ensures high reliability.

Crossflow
fans have been in existence for more than 80 years,
but it is only the result of intensive development work
carried out over the past few years that has made it
possible to construct them with characteristics comparable
with those of other fans. From the basic conception,
we have, through systematic research, developed a new
type of crossflow fan. The introduction of a perforated
“V” shaped guide vane into the air stream gives the
following technical advantages: • high stability • excellent
performance characteristics in relation to overall dimensions
• very low noise level • a wide range of applications
