Challenger
Components have been operating since 1984 from purpose built
premises in Sittingbourne, Kent The
primary objective was the marketing and sales of 3M Co., static
control products.
In September
'85, Challenger Components was approached by Amphenol Ltd.,
the second largest manufacturer of connectors, to create a
specialist technical marketing and distribution facility for
the UK in order to assist Amphenol's high level of service
to the UK market.
January
'87 sees the expansion of Challenger's range of connectors
to include French manufactured connectors from Socapex and
German manufactured connectors from Tuchel.
August
88' Challenger Components was appointed sole UK distributor
for Nippon Graphite heat seal connectors.
September '88. Challenger Components moved into newly constructed
larger premises in Sittingbourne, kent. October '90. Amphenol
Ltd agreement with Challenger was expanded to include US manufactured
products.
Also in 1990, Challenger Components extended its product range
by introducing the EBM-Ziehl range of cooling fans. These
products also includes the compact range by Papst Plc and
the larger fans of Ziehl Abegg GmbH
September
'93. Challenger Components extensive range of products was
increased to include a distribution agreement with Pyle National,
a division of Amphenol.
Challenger Components are now part of the Arcum group of companies
which includes Hunter Electronics Ltd,
Inelco Ltd and Electronic Frontier Ltd
